Meteka, locally known as water hyacinth, was harvested and woven by artisan communities living around Deepor Beel in Assam. The plant’s long stalks were collected from the wetlands, cleaned, and naturally dried under the sun before being woven into a variety of products. This craft transformed an abundant aquatic plant into a useful natural fibre.
