Brokpa Yak Wool originates from the high-altitude pastoral landscape of Merak–Sakteng, where the Brokpa people have sustained a transhumant yak-herding tradition for generations. Brokpa Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) governs a vertically integrated pastoral system encompassing tsamdro pasture rotation, drukor barter networks, stone-walled boundary structures, and the spiritual governance of alpine ecosystems. Through seasonal migrations between grazing grounds, herders maintain the health of grasslands, support biodiversity, and sustain reciprocal relationships between people, livestock, and landscape.
